Wavienne answers one question: would this haircut suit me? Most hairstyle content answers a different one — how to create the look — and leaves you scrolling a gallery hoping something clicks. This site starts from what a cut asks of your face shape, your hair density and the ten minutes you are willing to spend on it, then shows the cuts that meet those conditions.
Who writes it
Corinne Ashcombe writes and edits every guide here. Research and first drafts are AI-assisted; the structure, the judgement calls and the final wording are hers, and she rewrites by hand rather than publishing generated text as-is. There is no team behind the byline — one editor, working through one subject properly.
How the claims here are sourced
Anything on this site that can be checked — what a cut requires in styling time, how layering behaves on fine hair, what a salon means by a particular term — is written against a published source, and the sources are listed at the foot of the guide that uses them. Where sources disagree, the disagreement gets stated rather than smoothed over. Taste is opinion; how hair behaves is not, and the two are kept separate on purpose.
What this site does not do
- No step-by-step tutorials. The judgement is the product here. Once you know which cut you want, your stylist is better placed to execute it than any article is.
- No colour or chemical instructions. Bleaching, at-home colour, perming and extensions are handled as questions to put to a professional, never as steps or formulas.
- No hair-loss or regrowth claims. Thinning, scalp conditions and anything that promises to grow hair back are medical territory, and this site stays out of it. Guides on fine hair are about how a cut is shaped, not about what is happening to your scalp.
- No coverage of textured and Afro-textured hair as a primary subject. Protective styling and natural-hair care are their own craft with their own expertise, and it is not ours. Where a roundup touches on it, it links out to writers who specialise in it.
